What’s New

CSDC is working with City of Hollister Redevelopment Agency on an exciting project, called the Westside and Palm Court Apartments. The tentative site plan calls for the construction of 22 new apartments on two adjoining lots, just west of the downtown residential area near Fourth Street and between Line Street and Westside Boulevard. The apartments will consist of three and four bedroom units with plenty of outdoor space for tenants to enjoy. A play area for children will also be incorporated into the plan. The design of the exterior of the units will be southwestern style architecture that emphasizes an attractive but cost-effect design. All units will be affordable to low-income families.

The City of Hollister Redevelopment Agency (“RDA”) is an important partner in many of our projects. The RDA has loaned CSDC low interest funds to complete two acquisitions and rehabilitations of blighted apartment buildings that were converted to low-income rental units. The RDA plans to gift one of the lots to build the Westside Apartments, will provide a low interest loan to purchase the Palm Court lot, and assist in other aspects of the development. CSDC will deed a portion of Palm Court lot to the City to continue widening Westside Boulevard. The RDA receives its funding through recapturing a portion of the property tax funds in the Redevelopment District. Normally, only a small portion of property tax money comes back to the County, as the lion share funds the State. The RDA returns more of the local tax revenue for beneficial use in our community.
